We were becoming a little more experimental. We'd upgraded the 'home studio' and acquired a new Synth part way through the recording of this album so the atmosphere changes halfway through.  'Ghosts' was the direction we'd pursue in late 1996 but for now, we were trying to write a signature song - a calling card - one we could knock on a record company door, play and watch them try to refuse us.  For a while we thought it was 'All I need is you' but we never heard back from any of the many tapes we sent off. Quite obvious why really. 

'Your Move' was the most experimental - It started with a mash up of all the moments in the song playing at different times, over each other creating a magical mess which I loved.  "Too Long" showcased the new Synth - the whole introduction played live on it until the sequenced PSS-790 kicks in at about 1 minute in.  'Shadow' was meant to be a dark industrial mechanical goth song - we didn't have the technology for that  though.  Listen to the 'wind' sound effect - it's a transposed string effect with pitch-bend mod wheel.  

'Motive' was a song written for the first 'best of' compilation we did in June 1995, collecting our favourite stuff, re-recording it and adding a couple of new songs to the mix.  Those three new songs were lost as there was only one copy of the tape and someone taped over it! The only one of the three I remembered was 'Motive' so it's called the 'remix' because it's not exactly the same as the original.  'Cry' was a favourite of mine for a while and listening back to it, I still quite like it, even though it's almost the exact same song as 'Stone' from 'Citadel'.  The album was interesting to a point but it triggered a bit of a creative lull until 'Magic'.
